TEN MGHS STUDENTS GO TO HONORS BAND
Ten
MGHS Band students participated May 5 & 6 in the Spring Band Fest at Ohio
Northern University under the direction of Guest Conductor, Mark Camphouse and
ONU Director of Bands, Dr. Charles Bates. Rossi DiBenedetto, MGHS Band
Director, was extremely proud that out of 115 students chosen from the state
of Ohio, Mt. Gilead boasted over 10%.
Students were thrust into a vigorous rehearsal schedule on Saturday to
prepare them for their Sunday performance. Amid pizza, ice cream and
rehearsing students were able to mingle with the college band members to forge
new friendships.
Pieces selected for Honors Band included: West Highlands Sojourn, Three
London Miniatures and High Country Celebration. Together with the ONU
Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble they performed: The Stars & Stripes Forever
and America, the Beautiful.
Students selected included Seniors: Caitlin Brown
and Kate Snyder, Juniors: Tucker Barton, Mitch Gale, Jessica Johnson and
Chris Williams, Sophomores: Sophia Marshall, Hannah Smith and Kyle Grossman,
Freshman: Robin Heiden. Sophomore Katie Linder was also chosen to
participate but was unable to attend.
