Morrow County EMS Station # 1 is one of five stations located through out
Morrow County. There are two trucks housed at this station. Truck # 1 is a
2002 Horton Emergency Vehicle mounted on a Ford Chassis. It is our primary
truck, and is staffed 24 hours, 365 days a year, providing that we have enough
volunteers. It is equipped with a Zoll 1600 cardiac monitor along with all the
needed equipment. It averages approximately 850-1150 runs per year. It is called
Squad if there is not a paramedic on duty and medic if there is one on duty.
Thus, it is Squad 1 or Medic 1.
Our second truck is called Squad/Medic 6 again depending if a medic is on
duty. It is the County’s EMS backup truck and is used by any of the other
stations in the event that their primary truck is out of service for
preventative maintenance. If it is not being used by another station, it is used
as a second truck in the Mt. Gilead area, if we have extra crewmembers around
for a second run in our area. It is a 1995 Horton Emergency Vehicle mounted on a
Ford Chassis and is equipped with the same equipment as Truck #1.
On February 29, 2003 Morrow County Firefighters and Squadsmens Association
placed into service an on duty paramedic. This person is on duty from 9:00 am
until 9:00 p.m., the busiest time of any day for Morrow County EMS. This
allows the resident of Morrow County to have the highest level of care available
to them when they need it most.
On August 3, 2003, Morrow County Firefighters and Squadsmens Association took
the first step in moving towards a full time service by staffing four of the
five stations from 0600-1800 (6:00 am-6:00 pm) These people are on station
and are paid $7.00/hr. They can work up to a total of 40 hours in a
workweek before having to be paid overtime. We try to the best of our
ability to make sure that overtime does not occur, but sometimes it does happen.
From 1800-0600 (6:00 pm- 6:00am) the duty crews are not required to stay at the
station and are paid $5.15/hour.
Morrow County EMS is a third service contracted by the Morrow County
Commissioners to provide Emergency Medical Service to the residents of Morrow
County as well as those who pass through. Working off a property tax levy,
Morrow County EMS also bills for EMS services rendered. Our billing service is
