Dr Seuss Brunch March 2, 2002
| Friends of the Mt. Gilead
Public Library is a non-profit group that helps to promote the library function.
We are currently in the stages of laying the foundation of a new group which will
be the first serving the library since 1979. Friends groups are staffed 100% by volunteers. Groups have officers and hold periodic meetings to dicuss and organize events and activities. Membership will be open to anyone interested in promoting the library functions as described in our Mission Statement. Typical activites are book sales, children's reading programs, book delivery to homebound individuals, library support.. |
Specific activities are not regulated; the Friends
group can hold any type of activity which promotes the library function. Some groups
are running a hospital program to put books into the hands of new mothers, others organize
children's programs, bring in special authors, and a whole variety of other functions. If you would like to get involved in a very worthwhile program, please contact Jack Robertson via e-mail, call 946-6997, or stop at the library main desk and ask for more information. |
