Mount Gilead Lions Club

Mission statement of Lions Clubs International

“To create and foster a spirit of understanding among all people for humanitarian needs by providing voluntary services through community involvement and cooperation.”

Our programs are continually changing to meet new needs and greater demands, but our mission has never wavered.

Lions are men and women who volunteer their time to humanitarian causes.  Founded in 1917, our motto is “We Serve.”

Helen Keller, at our International Convention held June 30, 1925 at Cedar Point, challenged the Lions to become “Knights of the Blind” ….. and since that time, service to the blind and the visually impaired has become one of our most important activities.

The Mount Gilead Lions Club’s main focus is helping the disadvantaged that have vision problems.  The members are interested in eyesight research and providing eyeglasses to the needy in the community and county.  The profit made from the annual Christmas Tree Sales and the Memorial Day weekend Horse Show supports the vision project.

Membership to the Mount Gilead Lions Club is by invitation.  If interested in joining this organization and would like to attend a meeting to learn more about the Lions, contact a local member (419.946.2071 or 419.946.6591).  Also, ask a member for a membership application if still interested in helping with this worthwhile mission.

The Mount Gilead Lions Club meets the second and fourth Monday of each month at Hess’s Café in Cardington.  Dinner starts at 7:00 p.m. with program and short meeting after program.
